Carbon County Coroner's Office
The primary responsibility of the carbon county coroner's office is to determine the cause and manner of deaths that occur in carbon county that pertain to the requirements of the county code of pa. (which pertain to certain types of deaths) some examples of types of deaths that would be investigated include but are not limited to: suicides, accidental deaths, homicides or any deaths that occur in prisons, operating room deaths, sudden deaths of persons not under the direct care of a physician, suspected abuse of the elderly.
Authorization to cremate is required by the Coroner's Office for anyone who has died in Carbon County.
Fees and General Information
Per the County Code of PA, the Carbon County Coroner's office charges the following for copies of documents of closed and final cases:
Coroner Report: $100.00
Autopsy Report: $500.00
Toxicology Report: $100.00
$10 per Photo on Disk (Must Take All)
$15.00 per Photo 4x6 Printed (Must Take All)
Administrative Fee + $35.00
Reports and photographs will only be released on cases that are closed and finalized. Please contact the Chief Deputy at 570-233-2816 with questions or to find out if photographs are available.
