Carbon County is under the administration of County Commissioners Charles W. Getz, Wayne Nothstein, and William J. O'Gurek, Chairman. The three County Commissioners constitute the chief governing body of the County. Statutory authority of the Commissioners is primarily of an administrative nature with legislative and policy-making powers.

The County Commissioners are vested with selective policy-making authority to provide certain local services and facilities on a County-wide basis. Administrative powers and duties of the County Commissioners encompass registration and election, assessment of persons and property, human services, veteran's officers, appointment of county personnel and fiscal management.

One of the duties of the County Commissioners, according to Judicial Code is to provide accommodations, supporting facilities and services for the Courts. All funding for the Courts except the salaries of the Judges, the Court Administrator and two Deputy Court Administrators is provided by the County.

Notice is hereby given that the regular meetings of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners for the year 2009 will be held every Thursday at 10:30 A.M., prevailing time, in Commissioners' Conference Room #1, Third Floor, Court House Annex, Jim Thorpe, PA, commencing Thursday, January 15, 2009, with the following exceptions:

Due to the Thanksgiving Day Holiday, the Board of Commissioners will not meet on November 26, 2009.

Meeting of the Carbon County Salary Board for the year 2009 will be held on the first Thursday of each month following the Commissioners' regular meeting in the Commissioners' Conference Room #1, Third Floor, Court House Annex, Jim Thorpe, PA, commencing on February 5, 2009.

Meetings of the Carbon County Election Board for the year 2009 will be held on the second Thursday of each month following the Commissioners' regular meeting commencing February 12, 2009.

Meetings of the Carbon County Retirement Board for the year 2009 will be held on the third Thursday of each month, immediately following the Commissioners’ regular meeting in the Commissioners’ Conference Room #1, Third Floor, Court House Annex, Jim Thorpe, PA commencing on January 15, 2009.

The Annual Meeting of the Carbon County Salary Board  will be held Monday, January 5, 2009, convening at 1:30 P.M., in the Commissioners Conference Room, Third Floor, Courthouse Annex, Jim Thorpe, PA, immediately followed by a meeting of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners.
