Carbon Country Communication Center
		Operations

Carbon County Consists of 405 square miles with a population of approximately 57,800 people. These figures do not include the large number of tourists who visit the county throughout the year. There is a network of 743 miles of interstate, state, and local highways. There are approximately 50,000 homes and businesses in the county.

Carbon County Communications Center is located at 1264 Emergency Lane, Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania 18240. The non-emergency phone number is (570) 325-9111. Fax number is (570) 325-9121.

In August of 1993, Carbon County began using enhanced 9-1-1. We are the only Public Answering Poing (PSAP) for the county. July of 1994, the Communications Center began using New World Software for Computer Aided Dispatching and Record Keeping. All the full and part-time dispatchers are APCO certified as well as Emergency Medical Dispatcher certified by the Clawson System.

		Recent Upgrades

	Six Motorola Centracom Gold Elite Consoles with access to all radio channels including the fire station alerting systems within the Communications Center and a console located in the Emergency Operations Center in the time of crisis.


	Phone System - Vesta Pallas by Plant Equipment - very flexible software program that allows users to interact with the application using a mouse or keyboard and lets dispatchers to customize the display of information - such as the size and placement of the software's program modules.



	Logging Recorder - NICE Nicelog Digital Recorder which is designed for continuous 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The Nicelog is a next generation of recorder with more density, capabilities and advanced technology than we had with our Comlog Recorder.



	Console Furniture - provided by Wrightline

	Nextel Integration into our console through our Motorola Centracom Gold Elite Console.

	Fire Radio Network Backup System

	Carbon County upgraded its Police F1 network to provide more reliable coverage county-wide.
